WRITE A RESUME
(last update Thu, Sep 6, 2007)
Why do I need a resume?
- A resume is a record you can share with potential employers and use to apply to college and other opportunities. It can be arranged in a number of different formats, chronological, by topic or activity. The Kuder Assessment Planning System will allow you to create a resume and print it out in the various formats.
What should I include in my resume?
- Look at your resume as a journal of experiences throughout high school and beyond. As you gain experience, participate in clubs, academies and community service, these actives should be added to your resume. Leadership and other positions of responsibility are very important and need to be included. Awards and distinctions can be useful as well.
- Update your resume at least every three months so that you don’t forget anything. Don’t wait until you are a senior, you will end up leaving out important information and experiences.
When and how do I get started?
- The sooner the better! Use the Kuder Career Planning System on this web site. It can take your information and reorganize and put it into different formats. You can also just use it as your own reminder of past accomplishments.
