APPLYING TO COLLEGE
(last update Thu, Sep 6, 2007 )
What is the best time to apply?
- The sooner, the better! Most colleges have deadlines for early and on-time registration. You should be aware of these dates. Turning in an application late will often prevent you from being accepted into or starting a program on time. Most colleges and universities run on a first come, first selected basis. DON’T wait until you have graduated from high school to apply.
- Don’t forget to include the codes for colleges or universities you plan on attending in your financial aid application (FAFSA).
Are all applications the same?
- NO and some may take a great deal of time to complete. Many four year applications will want you to write a personal statement or click on “write a personal statement” to learn more. Proof of residency and immunization requirements can also delay completing your application. Start early to find out what is needed so you can get your application on time. Ask your college counselor for help when you are not sure how to complete your application.
