COMPLETE THE FASFA
(last update Thu, Sep 6, 2007 )
- The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA allows the government to see whether or not you and your family need help paying for your education.
- There are three different types of aid that the government may award you based on your individual situation: grants, federal work-study, and student loans.
- You do not have to pay back grants and federal work-study monies.
Why should I file a FAFSA?
- Most types of financial aid, including scholarships, depend on you submitting the FAFSA
- By receiving financial aid you can reduce the number of hours you may need to work to pay for your education. One of the leading causes of failure at college is not being able to balance work and study. Receiving financial aid will help you reduce this conflict by reducing the number of hours you have to work.

- Have Questions? Attend a financial aid workshop or stop by and see our counselor at the FHS cafeteria (see monthly schedules for times)
Who should complete the FAFSA?
- EVERYONE who is thinking of going to college should submit the FAFSA. You should submit the FAFSA to see what type of aid you may be eligible to receive to help you pay for your education.
Will the FAFSA guarantee me money for college?
- No. The FAFSA is a needs-based formula. If the information entered shows that your family has the money to help you pay for college you may not be eligible for any free money to help you go to school. Student and parent loans could still be an option for you and your family.
How do I get started?
- The quickest way to apply is online using the FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov
Email us for more information on the FAFSA or if you are interested in attending a financial aid workshop. Workshops will help you go through the process of requesting a pin, filling out an application and submitting it. your.roadmap@gmail.com
