Old Business

1. Faculty Professional Development Funds - Jerry passed out a spreadsheet of the awards which were awarded at the March meeting. He thanked Grace for her leadership in finalizing these awards during his absence.

1. Spring 2008 Activities - Although the activities were light for the spring, Femar Lee and Chris Hacskaylo did offer a very engaging workshop titled, "Teaching Abstract Concepts to Concrete Learners." Jerry thanked Chris for her efforts in delivering this workshop.

2. Fall 2008 Activities - Jerry has received two requests for workshops to be offered in the fall.
   • Wayne Sunahara, Disability Specialist, wants to offer a workshop series to let folks know the disabilities services that are offered through the ACCESS Office
   • Kimberly Gallant, Mental Health Counselor, want to do the same thing to let folks know the services she is offering.
   • Jerry stated he believes it is time for the Faculty Development Committee to make an effort to again facilitate a faculty mentoring program. He will discuss this at the Campus Leadership Meeting this coming Monday and plan on setting up the program in the fall.

3. UH Foundation Account - Reimbursement for Service Learning Workshop. Beng Poh spent $187.02 for refreshments, leis and nametags and has asked the Faculty Development Committee to pay for these expenses using its UH Foundation Account. The committee member unanimously approved this request.

4. Wrap-up of 2007-2008 year - the committee members shared the highlights of the year for them and offered suggestions for activities for next year.

5. 2008-2009 Membership - three members are finishing their second of year of service on the committee - Steve, Pat and Mario. Steve and Pat will be replaced in the fall with a new representative from their divisions. Jerry will represent PCATT on the committee.

1. There will be no May meeting unless some important issue arises that needs a meeting.

2. Jerry distributed thank-you letters to all committee members for their service during this past academic year.
