Are you interested in helping out the Native Hawaiian Center? If so, the Center does look for volunteers who may be interested in helping out. The Center is interesting in finding volunteers in the following areas:


  • Office assistants
  • Specialized Projects
  • Tutoring (see below)

Volunteer Tutor Requirements:


  1. Tutors must be able to commit a minimum of 3 hours a week. Shifts must also be longer than 1.5 hours per day.
  2. Volunteers must also commit to tutoring schedule lasting the entire semester.
  3. Tutors must attend all mandatory tutor training sessions and meetings. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  4. Volunteer tutors must have at least a 3.0 GPA AND have received an A or B in the subjects that they will be tutoring.
  5. Demonstrate patience, flexibility and sensitivity to tutees needs and be willing to develop relationships with students to contribute to student success.
  6. Be willing to work in one-to-one and group tutoring situations.
