Ka‘iulani Akamine

Ka‘iulani coordinates Po'ina Nalu: The Native Hawaiian Career and Technical Education program at Honolulu Community College. She assists Native Hawaiian students enrolled in Career and Technical education programs at HCC in developing career and college skills. Additionally students are provided with opportunities to secure internships, practice oriented education and specialized technical training as well as obtaining career certifications.

A resident of Kualoa and graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute and the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, Ka‘iulani earned her BA in Hawaiian Studies and an MA in American Studies. She is currently working towards her PhD.


Keala Chock

Keala coordinates cultural enrichment and social activities for students at the Center including our 'Imi Na'auao Lecture Series, Artist in Residence program. For more information about upcoming events or if you have any ideas about activities we can schedule please contact Keala. He is also at the forefront of new curriculum development as Keala is overseeing the development of two new initiatve: Hawaii Ocean and Music Entertainment Learning Experience (MELE).

A graduate of St. Louis School, Keala is an musician and entertainer and cultural practitioner. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he earned his BA in Hawaiian Studies. He is currently working toward a Masters degree in Public Administration.

Leon services incoming First Year students to Honolulu Community College. Students needing assistance with financial aid or selecting courses upon entering HCC should contact Leon. Leon also oversees the development of Learning Communities at the college. Instructors interested in utilizing this innovative teaching system are welcome to contact Leon to learn more.

A proud native of the Wai‘anae Coast, Leon graduated from Wai‘anae High School, Leeward Community College and the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa where he earned his BA in Psychology and MEd in Education Administration.


Jonathan Kama Wong

Kama oversees the Center's technology programs including the computer lab facilitiy in 7-421. He provides technical training assistance to students, faculty and staff to help them better utilize the many technologies available to them to make their studies, jobs and lives easier. All who wish to develop a better understanding of computers or technology are welcome to contact him.

A graduate of Kamehameha Secondary School, Kama earned his AA in Liberal Arts from Honolulu Community College and his BA in Communication from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa. He is certified by CompTIA and Microsoft as an IT professional. He is currently working towards a graduate degree in Business Administration.
